AED’s Required in Schools Starting This Year

When students go back to school in Indiana next month, schools will now be better equipped to respond to sudden cardiac emergencies. That is thanks to the recent signing of House Bill 1515 into law.

Florida schools now required to have AEDs on campus under new law

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - Florida schools are taking a major step toward saving lives during cardiac emergencies. A new state law requires every public and charter school to have at least one automated external defibrillator (AED) on campus, and ensures both staff and students are trained to use it.

Drones are now being used to deliver Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest. Delays occur before (between emergency call and drone take-off) and after drone flight itself (related to bystander interaction with drone/AED). The emergency call-handler may have an important role in helping bystanders retrieve and use an AED.

Governor Meyer Signs Legislation Requiring CPR, First Aid, AED Training for Coaches

Governor Matt Meyer has signed into law House Bill 71, which advances student safety in athletics. The bill was crafted to ensure that schools participating in the Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association are prepared to respond to emergencies. HB 71 sponsored by House Majority Leader Kerri Evelyn Harris and Sen. Nicole Poore, enhances emergency preparedness in school athletic programs by requiring all coaches to be trained in CPR, first aid, and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
