Son, Brother, Friend

Preston Settles lived a life full of energy, joy, and connection. From his early years at the Underwood School in Newton, MA, to his time at the Fessenden School and Brooks School, Preston was a dedicated student-athlete and a beloved friend. He immersed himself in sports—football, basketball, baseball, and lacrosse—building lifelong friendships and leaving a lasting impression on teammates, classmates, and faculty alike.

Known for his infectious smile and magnetic personality, Preston brought positivity, laughter, and a deep sense of brotherhood to every space he entered. He had a natural ability to connect with others, making people feel seen, valued, and included. Whether in the classroom, on the field, or in his dorm community, Preston’s presence made every environment more joyful.

Fearless and adventurous, Preston embraced life with enthusiasm. He loved trying new experiences, from snowboarding and paddleboarding to fishing and traveling the world with his family. One unforgettable moment included reeling in a 357-pound tuna on his 15th birthday alongside his best friend.

Preston’s impact extended far beyond his achievements. He had a rare gift for uplifting others, always encouraging his friends and showing up with authenticity, kindness, and unwavering loyalty. He believed deeply in friendship, community, and living life to the fullest—values that continue to shape the legacy he leaves behind.

Preston had a bright vision for his future, with plans to study business and law at Duke University, continuing a legacy of excellence in his family. At his core, he was grounded in love—especially the close, unbreakable bond he shared with his sister Taylor—and he deeply valued time spent with family and friends.

Though his life was far too short, Preston lived fully and with purpose. His spirit, kindness, and impact continue to inspire all who knew and loved him, and his legacy lives on through the Preston Settles Memorial Fund.
